Sooo I’ve been in Canada since Sunday, and Jacksons Point since Monday. And let me tell you, this place is awesome. My family came here to the Briars, which is a little ‘resort’ on Lake Simcoe, in the tiny tiny town of Jacksons Point three years ago, and my parents, brother, dad’s parents and mom’s Dad stayed in a cabin right next to the lake. It’s kind of a la the resort in Dirty Dancing, so you can imagine my confusion as to why I haven’t already found a man like this:

Well, we’re all back this summer, minus my mom’s Dad. We’re in a different cabin this year, but I think I like this one better. We’re literally right on the lake, all the rooms have a great view (except mine, go figure) and there’s a deck, screened-in porch, and a crickety old staircase that leads down to the water to our own little private beach (man made slab of concrete). It’s beautiful.

I honestly have not been doing anything. It’s been a whole lot of me sitting in a white wooden Adirondack chair pretending to read Rousseau’s Rêveries du promeneur solitaire and actually listening to In the Mountain In the Cloud while watching the lake. This morning I was down on our ‘beach’ and wildlife must have been enjoying my music, because I turned around and found myself vis-à-vis to an otter. YES, that’s right. An otter. Just like in Pocahontas. It was at that moment I envisioned myself on a canoe singing “Just Around the River Bend.” But I digress.

So all in all, this has been a fantastic trip. My grandparents are awesome - my grandma is always singing songs she doesn’t know the words too while planning our next meal and asking, “Who’s ready for wine?!” She is me in 50 years, and it’s awesome. I did some yoga this morning outside, which was lovely, besides the lady next to me who was breathing waayyy too loudly and moaning just a bit too much. Awkward.
Alrighty, well judging by my headache, it’s just about time for me to find some coffee, and after that it’s dinner in the lodge. Oh la la. I hope you’ve enjoyed this chock-full-o-pictures post, à plus!!
Paix.
